Event Coverage

We, as a yearbook staff, stay organized by using a spreadsheet to assign staff to cover and take photos of different events. They are divided up by quarter, and we go over them in the weekly schedule meeting every Monday.
Editing
This is an example of a photo I edited from the producion of Annie. My editing process for any photos starts with a base edit that includes lighting, then I go on to more detailed editing.

Leadership
When it comes to camera work, I am the go-to person. Every year when we get new staff, we teach them how to use a camera to cover events. I get to talk about things like where to stand for different events, how to use basic settings and how to upload and edit photos.Every year the photography class does an assignment called the blind photography assignment. We first learn about Pete Eckert, a blind photographer. Afterwards, we put on blindfolds and go out and take photos. We learned how to visualize the subject before taking the photos. This taught us to slow down and think before snapping photos. Having done this activity before, my role was to lead blindfolded students around, so they would not run into things.

Staff Testimonies
From the moment I met Sidney, which was before she started doing photography, I’ve always wanted to be around her. She is a very genuine person, and I have had the honor to watch her journey with photography, writing, yearbook, and so much more. She truly has a special talent. I had the opportunity to work with Sidney on two amazing yearbooks. She is an exceptionally talented photographer and writer, earning multiple state awards for her work. Sidney is creative, dependable, and brings a strong sense of storytelling to every project she’s part of. I was very fortunate to work with her before moving away! Anyone who has the privilege of getting to know her is a very lucky person.

Sidney Brooks is a wonderful friend, but also a great mentor and someone to look up to. Being the new kid, she helped me connect and understand what was happening in our class and stay connected with her kindness and honesty. Her hardworking ethic inspires me to be the best I can be, and she is great at what she does in yearbook and everything she puts her mind to.
