Marketing and Social Media
Our yearbook staff sells advertisements that will help fund the yearbook for that year, and the staff is responsible for selling to various businesses. When I sell an ad, I try to sell to more local businesses and colleges, as it is important to show what local support we have for our school. I always prefer to go talk to the business owners in person over sending an email or talking over the phone. I do this because I get feedback almost instantly. I also make sure to follow up if the owner isn't there that day or if they need to look at their budget for the year.
Beyond school requirements, I am very proud to say that I built a small photography business. It all started with a family asking if I would be willing to do their family photos. I said I would try, but that I was not sure if I would be any good. Turns out, I really enjoyed it. I then expanded into doing family sessions and senior portraits. To get clients, I have to market and make myself seem more appealing so people will buy the services that I offer. After a lot of trial and error, I finally got the hang of keeping myself organized with spreadsheets, creating calendars and setting deadlines for myself to get galleries delivered on time.

2025-26 AD goals
Advertising
Every year, we have advertising sales goals. We choose small rewards when we meet different goal we get different rewards. The more sales we make, the bigger the prize. One year, we achieved our big goal to go to a rage room in Kansas City.
Socal Media
As a business owner, I utilize social media to post my photos and gain clients. I make a point to post on Facebook and Instagram after every game where I take photos. At first, my following was just 50 family members and other students at my school, but it has since grown to include community members from Inman and the surrounding area. Because I make an intentional effort to market my business online, my photos have now been featured on Sports in Kansas, Ad Astra, and other larger media outlets.
